Install Questions
- What size should the opening and roll-up door be?
- The door is made to fit the opening. A 6×7 door is actually 6′4″ wide for the door to fit into the guides and track.
- How much headroom is required to install a roll-up door?
- For storage roll-ups, 13 to 15 feet of headroom is required. 18 feet is recommended. Call us if you need more flexibility.
- When should I cut the band when installing?
- Some of our doors have a metal band. Once the door is mounted (with the U-bolt pulled away from the wall), roll the door twice toward the opening to add tension, pull down, secure the door with a vice grip, then move the U-bolt toward the wall and finish securing the door and guides.
- How do I frame the opening?
- Make it like an "H" or a goal post and don't cut off at the header. There is a framing example on our Storage Doors page.

The Right Door
- What colors are available?
- We stock white and Mohegan White (a very light grey), but other colors are available. Contact us to see the full color chart.
- Do custom sizes cost more?
- No. Doors are priced based on set door sizes, so 6′11 or 6′6 doors are priced at 7 wide. We do not add fees for custom orders.
- What insulation options are there for roll-up doors?
- Our doors can be made with insulation, or we carry a peel-and-stick insulation that can be installed after the fact.
- How is a rolling steel door different from a roll-up door?
- Roll-up doors (sheet doors) are typically used for storage, while our rolling steel doors are heavy-duty and designed for high-usage commercial environments.
